1LI Events & Reunions
If you have an event taking place of any kind, whether it be a one off or an annual one, and wish to bring it to the attention of the 1LI Association and it's members, then please let us know at the earliest opportunity. You can do this by sending us an e-mail with as much detail as possible about the actual event, but please include the event name, date and timings, location, a contact e-mail address and we will advertise it here for you.
We are also trying to promote smaller gatherings of Light Infantrymen due to the widespread locations of where we all live and it doesn't have to be a full on reunion as it could just be a curry night locally or a simple "sand bag" evening to meet old friends and make some new ones.

Cenotaph Ceremony 2024 - London
Sunday 10th November 2024
The 1LI Association will be marching again at the Cenotaph in 2024 after being granted permission by The Royal British Legion to march for the first time back in 2013 . It is a great honour for our association to be present and to represent 1st Battalion, The Light Infantry. The final ticket allocation for the parade will not be known until late summer, but with the current application system we are usually able to secure 60/65 places. There is a procedure in place for tickets and if you wish to take part and be considered for a place then please e-mail us ASAP during Nov/Dec 2023 as places are taken up very quickly. We also operate a standby list after this time in case any places become available. More details will be provided to those wishing to take part, including our dress code for the ceremony and there is a separate Facebook page for marchers to exchange information and to organise meeting up whilst in London.

Light Infantry Reunion - North East

Saturday 1st March 2025

Timings: 1900hrs to 2300hrs
New Location: Ye Olde Durham's Social Club, St Aidan's Street, Hartlepool TS25 1SN. (The concert room caters for 180)
Entertainment: The Veteran Buglers plus hopefully a band
Food: Pie & Peas
There will be a raffle and 1 game of Bingo.

Army v Navy Rugby - Twickenham
Saturday 3rd May 2025
The details for obtaining tickets has changed a great deal in recent years and at present a block booking is not as straight forward as we would like to keep everyone together. We are looking into this, but for now tickets/seats can be paid for directly on the ticket website when available and we have a separate Facebook Group for any member of the battalion that wishes to attend so that information can be shared.

Veterans (Old Farts) Pasty Stopover -  Cornwall

Date: 16th & 17th August 2025
Venue:  Nantillio Wood, Summercourt, Cornwall, TR8 5BG
Price is £TBC each which covers all admin expenses, large pasty, breakfast and refreshments etc. Booking is required due to limited numbers.

*1LI Ballygawley Victims - 2025 Memorial Service - Shrewsbury

Sunday 17th August 2025 @ 1040hrs

Venue: The 1LI Ballygawley Victims Memorial, The Quarry, Shrewsbury (Opposite St Chads).

This short service takes place every year on or close to the anniversary of the Ballygawley Bus Bombing in Northern Ireland, where 8 members of our battalion were murdered by the IRA on the 20th August 1988..

All are welcome to attend and show their respects, we kindly ask that those attending arrive 10 mins before the service starts please.
